Washington DC Metro Station – on a cold January morning in 2007. He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time approximately 2 thousand people went through the station, most of them on their way to work.

After 3 minutes:a middle aged man noticed there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried to meet his schedule.

4 minutes later:the violinist received his first dollar: a woman threw the money in the till and, without stopping, continued to walk.

6 minutes:A young man leaned against the wall to listen to him, then looked at his watch and started to walk again.

10 minutes:A 3-year-old boy stopped but his mother tugged him along hurriedly, as the kid stopped to look at the violinist. Finally the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. Every parent, without exception, forced them to move on.

45 minutes:The musician played. Only 6 people stopped and stayed for a while. About 20 gave him money but continued to walk their normal pace. He collected $32.

1 hour:He finished playing and silence took over. No one noticed. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.

No one knew this but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the highest acclaimed musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin valued at $3.5 million dollars. Two days earlier, Joshua Bell had sold out a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100.

This is a real story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste and people’s priorities. The questions raised: in a common place environment at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty? Do we stop to appreciate it?

Since Medicare was established in 1965, access to care has enabled older Americans to avoid becoming disabled and languishing in nursing homes. But legislation now being rushed through Congress -- H.R. 3200 and the Senate Health Committee Bill -- will reduce access to care, pressure the elderly to end their lives prematurely, and doom baby boomers to painful later years.

The Congressional majority wants to pay for its $1 trillion to $1.6 trillion health bills with new taxes and a $500 billion cut to Medicare. This cut will come just as baby boomers turn 65 and increase Medicare enrollment by 30%. Less money and more patients will necessitate rationing. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that only 1% of Medicare cuts will come from eliminating fraud, waste and abuse.

The assault against seniors began with the stimulus package in February. Slipped into the bill was substantial funding for comparative effectiveness research, which is generally code for limiting care based on the patient's age. Economists are familiar with the formula, where the cost of a treatment is divided by the number of years (called QALYs, or quality-adjusted life years) that the patient is likely to benefit. In Britain, the formula leads to denying treatments for older patients who have fewer years to benefit from care than younger patients."

What do we do to slow down this iron and clay cycle? I'm really not sure because,....the time clock has started. Once the time clock starts and the system learns that it can become a self-contained entity, totally oblivious to the requests of it's subjects, then self actualization begins to take place. The system has orders to follow. There's a higher power who has commanded the system to do certain things.

The mixure of clay and iron is quickly dominated by the iron part of the mixture. Suddenly, carbon based life forms and entities are poising a danger to the system. The masses are but cattle. They seem to easily follow after lies. No one questions the system. One could hope and may think that placing republican politicians in office during next elections would solve the problem. I dunno, I think this is incorrect. I don't think at this point the outcome can be slowed down. It's not the politicians anymore. It's the system and this coming system's ultimate goal and command is world domination and to that effect men whose breath are in their nostrils are merely pawns.

We all have someone in our lives with whom we feel we can share all of our thoughts and secrets. Many of us also have friends we have known for quite some time, who are always open and friendly, but never really help carry the burden when the going gets tough. Or we have family members who suddenly pop into our lives from seemingly nowhere.

How many of these people do you trust? Would you trust them with your life? Can you trust them with a secret? Or do you trust no one? Be careful who you trust your welfare may depend upon it.

When it comes to matters of great importance, we must be very cautious with our secrets. How many times have you heard stories of the trusted caregiver stealing his or her elderly charge blind? Suddenly a helpless senior citizen with no family to speak of is left destitute, their life savings stolen from them by the very person who was supposed to care for them.

Walker is enrolled in a clinical trial that is studying the effectiveness of a medication for ankylosing spondylitis.

John D. Reveille, M.D., professor and director of the Division of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunogenetics at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston, was recruiting patients with ankylosing spondylitis to participate in a clinical trial.
Walker, 66, was intrigued by the news. He had been living with the arthritic condition since the mid-1970s, and he was willing to test a medication that may loosen his stiff joints and alleviate pain in his spine and shoulders.

He quickly called the telephone number listed in the newspaper article. It led him to the University Clinical Research Center, or UCRC, where he became one of thousands of patients to enroll in trials that help shape the future of medicine.

The First Step to a Long Way Home!

For many years I'v had my hat turned backwards and ignored the added weight gain that I cruelly demanded my body carry. Well, I'm finally going to face my adversary and take command of my eating habits. I started by walking in my community. Once around the neighborhood equals approximately 1 mile. Occasionally, I run for a large portion of that mile. I'm currently able to run 2 tenths of a mile at any given time as long as I can walk the remainding 8 tenths. My starting weight was 263 lbs. I'm currently at 254 lbs and dropping quickly. I have changed my diet somewhat. Writing about this project tends to make me hungry so, I'll keep this entry rather short. I'm eating more fruits and vegetable......less fried foods. I'll put up a before and after soon. I solicate any suggestions. Also anyone who needs to lose weight and wants to join this blog as a writer is welcome to do so. Just let me know.

Texas is leading the world's medical industry with it's multibillion-dollar expansion plan. By 2014 the Medical Center will have 40 million square feet of patient, research and multicultural education. Expansions are expected to create 30,000 new jobs.

In a recent California study, doctors discovered that eating half a grapefruit before meals helped patients reduce their insulin levels for 2 hours after eating. The patients who ate the grapefruit before meals lost 1.6kg on average, compared to 0.3kg lost by the patients who were not given the grapefruit, making grapefruit 433% more effective at burning fat compared with dieting alone.

Scientists gave one groups of overweight women a whole-wheat protein to eat, and compared results with another group following a standard low calorie diet. The group who ate the wheat protein lost an average of 5.5kgs during the experiment, while the group who ate the standard low calorie diet lost only 2.8kg, making wholewheat proteins 96% more effective for weight loss.

In a Brazilian study, overweight, non-smokers with high cholesterol were given either fruits or meal replacement cookies to eat three times a day. Both groups consumed exactly the same calories, with a diet consisting of 55% carbohydrates, 15% protein and 30% fat. The group that ate the fruit lost 1.22 kg but the meal replacement cookie group lost only 0.88 kg, making the fruit 38% more effective for burning fat.

I encourage you to press into the unseen realm where everything is in God's harmony. This is what Enoch did. He (Enoch), walked with God and was not for God took him. Enoch found a place where this present realm no longer had any association with him. God can do the same for you.

Meal Plans

I've been using Meal Plans 101 for two months and I can honestly say that it has been a great help in monitoring my nutrition. The guess work is taken out of portion sizes and in turn this also makes menu planning a lot easier. The most important benefit from my point of view is the fact that it enables me to alter my macro-nutrient ratios very easily. I can switch from a diet of 50/30/20 of carbohydrates, protein and good fat to say 45/20/35 AND it provides suggestions for the content of each meal. I also like the way the program caters for weight loss, gain or maintenance and how it provides accurate calorific data for the program that you are on. No more guessing!!Thanks for a great product that has helped me burn unwanted fat and has also kept me feeling full.

So how important is it to speak positive to yourself in you attempt to drop you addictions? I think it's very important. Think about it....we as humans are the only creatures on this earth with the power of words. I've had times when words have shaped my immediate situation. Wisdom speaks truth and excellent things. Proverbs Chapt. 8 Even salvation itself comes from confession that Jesus Christ is Lord and the belief that God raised him from the dead because he had done nothing worthy of death. But that's another subject....

You must grab a glimpse of who you really are and latch onto it with your speech. In actuality the real you is in harmony with creation. Just as the Sun rises in the morning and the flowers bloom in the spring due to the living force that flows thru all things. You have been created and equipped with the same God given living substance that can enable you to live healthy and harmonious with all things.

TAX INCREASE

I recently read that the tax on cigarettes have been increased to $1.43 in the wonderful state of Texas. I think this type of legislation to be outlawed. It's clearly an addition of weights and burdens directed towards a group of individuals already laden with grevious burdens. Shame on the crooked legislators for the rape of it's people. They take money from lobbyist for tabacco industry then turn around and take money from the end user of it's products. I see things differently as a non-smoker who once smoked. There's many other unsavory activities that the general public engages in, worthy of taxation if that's the criteria for taxation. If you want to tax smokers.....why not levy higher taxes on perps, criminals, or individuals prosecuted of crimes deemed to contain elements of moral turpitude. That's my 2 cents!

I rememeber at 14 years old how a good friend's Dad used to buy us beer, alcohol and cigarettes. At the time we thought it was cool. His Dad's view was that it was better for us to indulge in things like that at his home other than in the streets. I don't fault him at all. We grew up rather quick. I remember smoking joints on the way to school with his dad driving the car. Needless to say, by the time I was 16 yrs old, though I didn't consider myself an addict, I'm sure if there was an test for addiction, I would have passed it with flying colors.

I stopped using drugs for one semester, my last semester in high school to make sure that I graduated. Then from there it was off to the military. Druggies paradise! More on Paradise.....Click Here!

Since 14 yrs of age, I've probably spend half my existence with impaired mental abilities due to drugs, alcohol and cigarettes. I look at the drug culture from a different perspective.

I feel that individuals who have never used drugs, alcohol or cigarettes yet condemn those who do, are candidates for mental bondage to the same vices. Those that say, "I don't smoke, don't drink, don't chew....and don't hang around with those that do", are self righteous. I believe God gives the grace to live a certain way and it's foolish to believe that our behaviors are the results of our own intentions. At the same time, I believe God can change our appetites, desires and motivations and enable us to live in ways the yield great returns both here and here after.

CANCER SURVIVOR

One of the Minister's affiliated with our church recently shared his testimony how God had greatly made special provision for him.

He didn't live in Houston, Texas (Home of the Best Cancer Treatment Centers in the World), and was diagnosed with a certain type of cancer. After praying to God for healing, my friend had gracefully accepted the outcome. He had also accepted the possibility that he might need to seek the help of medical professionals for healing.

He was content whether God allowed him to remain here and continue to work or to go on and be with the Lord. He didn't have the finances to pay for the expensive regiment of required medical activities nor the fees to employ the Leading Specialist in the field of cancer.

Well My Friend was thrilled when as he watched the Hand of God make provision for him. The money began to come in from various sources. Business Owners, Corporated Leaders, even the Mayor of his city championed his fund raising efforts. To add to the blessing, the Hospital reduced it's fees. I'm not sure of the actual amount that was raised in a short period of time. I believe it was around $70,000 to $90,000. Truly amazing! Well my friend was released from the Houston Medical Center early, and the last I heard is doing quite well.

Texas Medical Center is the largest medical center in the world. People come to Houston for medical treatment from all parts the world mainly due to the tremendous advancements in Heart and Cancer research.

Houston is home to the modern day Einstein. Anyone in the medical profession worldwide is familiar with the research, new methods and devices created by Dr. Debakey. I hear the students in his classes hang on his every word. His resume is much to long for this article. If you have not heard of him, I sincerly encourage you to google him sometime. HOLIDAY SECURITY

As most of my customers know, I once worked in Nuclear Security.

Because of that reason I’ve been sort of brainwashed on preventive rather than reactive security measures.

Seems to me predators increase around the holidays. In the old days parents taught their children, "if it ain’t your’s don’t touch it." This isn’t the norm today. So here’s a few tips that hopefully will help you enjoy a safe holiday season.

Whether you are at the mall, the bank, the grocery store or just stopping for gas, be aware of everything going on around you. Many times we are pre-occupied with tight schedules and long lists of activities. But, please be aware of what is going on around you.

I once quit shopping at a certain store because they counted their money in the front of the store without any security. HUGE STACKS OF MONEY!! I figured the store was like a sitting time bomb. Scared me to shop there. I didn't want to be referred to as the innocent bystander in some news report.

Don’t park next to big trucks or vans that obscure your visibility. Avoid ATMs unless they are located inside of stores, and even then watch for individuals that seem too concerned with your transaction. When shopping and going from store to store don’t leave gifts or valuables in plain sight within the vehicle. Put them in the truck or take them home. Plan your trip well, even down to where you are going to park. Look for anything suspicious when returning to your vehicle. If you don’t like what you see, go back in the store and call security.

Always lock your doors and shop in groups. Put your purse under you jacket or sweater. And for men keep you wallet in you front pocket when shopping. Also when handling a cash transaction, count your money and put it up before you leave the window or counter.

Also one last note: Be sure to check you receipts. Some stores routinely double charge credit cards during the holidays. I was just at the grocery store checking out thru the automated self check out and was double charged $3.99 for a package of ground turkey. When I mentioned it to the clerk, she just took it off and acted like it wasn’t unusual.

PERITONEAL MESOTHELIOMA

Peritoneal mesothelioma, a cancer of the lining of the abdominal cavity, is less common than the pleural form, comprising approximately one-fifth to one-third of the total number of mesothelioma cases diagnosed. According to the SEER (Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results) database, these diagnoses are approximately 54.7 per cent male versus 45.3 per cent female, with the median age being 65-69. The latency period appears to be shorter for asbestos-exposed individuals with symptoms appearing 20-30 years after exposure rather than the 30-40 year latency more commonly associated with pleural mesothelioma.

Symptoms
Clinical symptoms at the time of presentation may include abdominal pain, abdominal mass, increased abdominal girth, distention of the abdomen, ascites (fluid in the abdomen), fever, weight loss, fatigue, anemia and digestive disturbances. Some patients complain of more non-specific symptoms for a number of months prior to a confirmed diagnosis. In a percentage of cases, peritoneal mesothelioma is found incidentally when the patient has sought help for another health problem such as gallbladder, hernia or pelvic mass.

Diagnosis
As with all mesotheliomas, the diagnosis of peritoneal mesothelioma can be challenging. CT findings may help differentiate between the two clinical types of peritoneal mesothelioma, termed "dry" or "wet", since their appearances are very different upon imaging. In the "dry" type, CT may reveal multiple small masses or a single dominant localized mass. There is normally little or no ascites. In the "wet" type, CT may reveal widespread small nodules, but no dominant mass. Ascites is usually present.
If fluid is present, it may be removed in a procedure called paracentesis. Unfortunately, as is the case with pleural mesothelioma, fluid analysis offers limited diagnostic value. It is normally a tissue biopsy obtained in a laproscopic exploratory that will yield a definitive diagnosis.

For decades, people have continued to suffer serious health effects and were killed as a result of the mesothelioma disease. Because little was known about mesothelioma, victims and their families were unable to seek mesothelioma support.
