M.D. Anderson Gives the World a Christmas Gift!

Hooray! Go Houston!

Once again leading the nation in medical breakthru's. I'm supprised that this story is getting such little coverage. It's a major advancement.

"Scientists have identified two proteins in patients with ovarian cancer that, when prevalent, dramatically increase their chance for survival.
Led by researchers at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, the discovery marks a significant advance for an emerging area of basic science called RNA interference, which one day may transform medicine.
After studying nearly 250 ovarian cancer patients, scientists found that women with high levels of two proteins called Dicer and Drosha in their tumor cells had a median survival of 11 years. Patients with low levels of the two proteins — about 40 percent of those studied — had a median survival of less than three years."

At the Center of Medical Breakthroughs Clinical Research Center

HOUSTON—(Oct. 02, 2006)—On a recent Thursday, Thomas Walker picked up a Houston Chronicle and read an article that would change his life.

John D. Reveille, M.D., (right) professor and director of the Division of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunogenetics at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston, and senior research assistant Laura Diekman, work with Thomas Walker (left) during a recent appointment at the University Clinical Research Center. Walker is enrolled in a clinical trial that is studying the effectiveness of a medication for ankylosing spondylitis.

John D. Reveille, M.D., professor and director of the Division of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunogenetics at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston, was recruiting patients with ankylosing spondylitis to participate in a clinical trial.
Walker, 66, was intrigued by the news. He had been living with the arthritic condition since the mid-1970s, and he was willing to test a medication that may loosen his stiff joints and alleviate pain in his spine and shoulders.

He quickly called the telephone number listed in the newspaper article. It led him to the University Clinical Research Center, or UCRC, where he became one of thousands of patients to enroll in trials that help shape the future of medicine.

Solve you Tired Issues

Why are some people always so full of energy – while you try everything you can think of and still feel tired all the time? Well, the answer is simple – you are probably doing something wrong. The problem is that there are so many different things that can make you feel tired – and while some might be obvious, I'm sure others will surprise you…

If you would like to know why you are so tired and how to get the energy back into your life, then read this entire article. Please, don't just skim through it – you shouldn't miss a single word because only when you truly understand your condition, will you be able to do something about it.
Did you know…

• If you feel tired, you are not alone – in United States and European Union 1 out of 4 persons suffers from tiredness.

• 25% of all women suffer from clinically significant daytime sleepiness (according to the NSF study).

• Tiredness is becoming known as the modern plague.

Is there something you can do that actually DOES work and stop you from being so tired?

The answer is yes! There is a way to get rid of tiredness and it doesn't involve stimulants or more sleep. It really is a shame that nobody is talking about it. I guess the drug companies just don't want you to have this information. They would rather make billions of dollars selling you 'energy' products that don't work.

The First Step to a Long Way Home!

For many years I'v had my hat turned backwards and ignored the added weight gain that I cruelly demanded my body carry. Well, I'm finally going to face my adversary and take command of my eating habits. I started by walking in my community. Once around the neighborhood equals approximately 1 mile. Occasionally, I run for a large portion of that mile. I'm currently able to run 2 tenths of a mile at any given time as long as I can walk the remainding 8 tenths. My starting weight was 263 lbs. I'm currently at 254 lbs and dropping quickly. I have changed my diet somewhat. Writing about this project tends to make me hungry so, I'll keep this entry rather short. I'm eating more fruits and vegetable......less fried foods. I'll put up a before and after soon. I solicate any suggestions. Also anyone who needs to lose weight and wants to join this blog as a writer is welcome to do so. Just let me know.

Are your Medical Bills Paying for your Healing, or for your Doctor's Vacations and Luxurious Life Styles?

There's a new awaking on the horizon. More and more individuals are starting to research the information provided them by medical professionals. More patients are starting to get second medical opinions and actually spending time learning about the effects of various prescribed remedies. Shouldn't we be as concerned about our health as our physician? It's a matter of life or death. Shouldn't we attempt to research the foreign substances recommended by our Doctors? Or should we move along like cattle to the slaughter?

Are individuals in need of medical attention being marketed to just like any other industry.... from the perspective of consumers, end users, market share, planned obsolecence, and worst case scenario, allowable margins of error.

Don't let your medical needs be bundled together and charted based on your Doctor's children's college plans or the medical industry's customer pipeline.

Here's more along the same lines:
ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) -- Linda Lewis says that when she had back surgery two years ago, her surgeon didn't do what was best for her health; he did was best for his bank account.

CANCER CURED NO ONE CARES!

Old News still no coverage:

Since the original publication of this article we have been inundated with responses from the public at all walks of life. It is important to note that research is ongoing with DCA, and not everyone is convinced it will turn out to be a miracle drug. There have been many therapies that were promising in vitro and in animal models that did not work for one reason or another in humans. To provide false hope is not our intention. There is a lot of information on DCA available on the web, and this column is but one opinion on the topic. We hope you will do your own research into the situation. So, we have added links to resources at the end of this column.

GRACEFUL EXITS!

Modern medicine can keep people alive into their 9th and 10th decades, when in years past they would have succumbed to any number of conditions. Now a small but growing number of these people are asking why. What is the point of living so long if you can no longer enjoy living? What is the point of living until your mind turns to marshmallow and you are reduced to an existence that is less than human? Read More......

Talked to the People

I stopped in a spoke to one of the ministers at the catholic church on Link street. I felt the need to minister to residents in the area. I've seen how the power of God can change a neighborhood for the better. I want to see the same for this area.

Outsourcing

The medical industry has shifted to outsource. This benefits Doctors and patients allowing Doctors and staff to focus on the intricate tasks associated with healing the sick.

With ever-changing insurance rules and HIPAA regulations, healthcare reimbursement and processing can often tax the current staff and become too complex to maintain in-house. Outsourcing medical billing frees up physicians and their staff from entangling themselves in the daily battles related to claims management, processing, insurance companies and government agencies. Medical professionals can then concentrate fully on what they went to school for and what makes them money; treating patients and practicing medicine.

PSYCHOSOMATIC

As a young adult I was baffled with psychosomatic phenomena with alternating dominant basis. Our bodies are so amazingly structured. There's so many links between stress and illness. Even the word, "Disease", means that the body is not operating in it's whole or perfect state or, not at ease.

I once held a job that I didn't like. It required wearing a uniform. At first I thought it was just coincidence that I became nauseated every time I put the uniform on. I later learned it was psychosomatic.

Later as I studied more I found the cure to uncontrollable Panic Attacks.Click Here!

Texas Medical Center

Construction cranes are everywhere in Downtown Houston. Looks as if contractors are placing giant stethoscopes against the huge structures to measure vitals. Pink Floyd take up thy stethoscope and walk.

Texas is leading the world's medical industry with it's multibillion-dollar expansion plan. By 2014 the Medical Center will have 40 million square feet of patient, research and multicultural education. Expansions are expected to create 30,000 new jobs.

FIGHTING FAT

In a recent California study, doctors discovered that eating half a grapefruit before meals helped patients reduce their insulin levels for 2 hours after eating. The patients who ate the grapefruit before meals lost 1.6kg on average, compared to 0.3kg lost by the patients who were not given the grapefruit, making grapefruit 433% more effective at burning fat compared with dieting alone.

Scientists gave one groups of overweight women a whole-wheat protein to eat, and compared results with another group following a standard low calorie diet. The group who ate the wheat protein lost an average of 5.5kgs during the experiment, while the group who ate the standard low calorie diet lost only 2.8kg, making wholewheat proteins 96% more effective for weight loss.

In a Brazilian study, overweight, non-smokers with high cholesterol were given either fruits or meal replacement cookies to eat three times a day. Both groups consumed exactly the same calories, with a diet consisting of 55% carbohydrates, 15% protein and 30% fat. The group that ate the fruit lost 1.22 kg but the meal replacement cookie group lost only 0.88 kg, making the fruit 38% more effective for burning fat.

Be Encouraged!

God is a Miracle Working God!
God is daily looking for someone like you that he can use to show to the world his miracle working powers. If you take a few minutes and pray to the Lord He will reveal his healing powers in you. You can live in harmony with the will of God. How do I know it? Well I experienced his touch in 1979 and have not been sick since......no not so much as a cold since! I encourage you to press into the unseen realm where everything is in God's harmony. This is what Enoch did. He (Enoch), walked with God and was not for God took him. Enoch found a place where this present realm no longer had any association with him. God can do the same for you.

God is the God of Truth. He is One of his own motion! Depropriomotu! He doesn't need a start. God is spontaneous and perpetual!

Death, disease, poverty, failure, depression ect......are all lies drummed up by the father of lies which is that old Adamic nature. In Christ all is made alive. Let Jesus Christ renew you starting today!

The number Eight is very significant in God's plan. Noah was the eight from Adam, only eight souls were saved by entering into the Ark. The year 2008 is a year that you can enter into the safe Haven of God's protection. He loves and cares for you and that's all that matters!
Let this year be the Greatest Year in your Walk with God!

If you would like to read my entire confession about the many times God has pulled me from the grasps of death, drop me a line requesting it and I'll gladly e-mail it to you.

Meal Plans

I've been using Meal Plans 101 for two months and I can honestly say that it has been a great help in monitoring my nutrition. The guess work is taken out of portion sizes and in turn this also makes menu planning a lot easier. The most important benefit from my point of view is the fact that it enables me to alter my macro-nutrient ratios very easily. I can switch from a diet of 50/30/20 of carbohydrates, protein and good fat to say 45/20/35 AND it provides suggestions for the content of each meal. I also like the way the program caters for weight loss, gain or maintenance and how it provides accurate calorific data for the program that you are on. No more guessing!!Thanks for a great product that has helped me burn unwanted fat and has also kept me feeling full.
